It’s always been said that being bad is easy, and being good is hard. For the most part, this is true. But for a lot of us, being a really good version of ourselves is actually easier than you might think. Think about that for a moment. When you woke up today, did you think to yourself, “I’m going to make the best decisions and be the best me that I can be today?!” Probably not, and surprisingly, that’s all it takes for most of us.

Starting Your Day

Start your day out giving yourself positive reinforcement. You would be shocked at how powerful positive reinforcement is. It works on a sub-conscience level that you’re not even aware of. When we first wake up, our brains are the most prone to the suggestive word. In those brief minutes after you wake up, say something positive to yourself. If you want to reinforce that even further, find a mirror and look into it when you say these positive things to yourself.

Staying Power of Suggestion

The power of suggestion is stronger than we often admit. We know this is true, especially in children whose minds are like wet sponges and absorb everything. Why is it that we are so guarded when it comes to what our children are exposed to? The reason is that whatever we expose our children to will imprint on them and help to transform their personalities. Telling yourself when you wake up that you are going to be the best you that you can be will stay with you until lunch, or maybe even dinner!

You will find that you will do things like take the stairs instead of taking the elevator, which is better for your health. You will find yourself holding that door open for someone, even though you were in a hurry. Heck, you might even find yourself donating time or funds to a charitable organization. Who knows! But imagine how all of these little deeds can add up to a better version of you!
